“Measuring the Benefits of  Homeownership for Children”

Marketing to Parents & First Time BuyersSeeking a sales tool to appeal to (often 1st time) “on the fence” home buyers with children or planning a family? Here it is!

Nothing prompts parents to purchase a home like “putting down roots” and providing a top level education for offspring.

A study by 3 esteemed So. Cal professors (featured above) provide hard evidence based on a 15 year ongoing study to support these assertions.

Key findings from the study include:

“In a study conducted over a period of 15 years, found children of homeowners fared better than children of renters”.

Some studies had suggested that prior findings regarding the benefits of home ownership were simply due to a more stable housing situation, not necessarily just “OWNERSHIP”.

The study’s findings indicate home ownership matters specifically for “Children are the biggest benefactors of home ownership”!!

According to the study: Parents’ marital status, income, race or age of the mother when the child was born had little effect on outcomes, after controlling for parental education, home ownership and other household characteristics.

The study was based on an analysis of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) and was sponsored by the Research Institute for Housing America (RIHA), the independent research foundation of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA).
